Are you attending Tedx in Honolulu?

One of our Hawaiian coworkers  Neenz Faleafine is Curator for the TEDx Honolulu event being held Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the Hawaii Convention Center.  If you are in Hawaii or headed to the islands you should think about attending.  We are very excited for Neenz who is an amazingly talented woman and with her team this is surely going to be a great event.

The theme they have is SHIFT — “(v.) To change position, direction, place, or form. (n.) A change in attitude, judgment, or emphasis.”

How they explain Shift:

“In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxHonolulu, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxHonolulu event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Our theme is SHIFT — “(v.) To change position, direction, place, or form. (n.) A change in attitude, judgment, or emphasis.” The State of Hawaii recently celebrated its 50th year of statehood. The entire community is confronted with challenges that require us to rethink, but more importantly require us to SHIFT.”

Speakers:

Under Henk’s direct leadership, Tetris has become one of the world’s top-selling games with over 125 million copies sold, and, after 25 years since its “birth,” that number is still growing.
